Mixed Choir of Jāzeps Mediņš Riga Music Secondary School

The mixed choir of Jāzeps Mediņš Riga Music Secondary School has a long-standing tradition dating back to the 1930s, when a choral singing class was established at the Latvian People’s Conservatory.
Following the Second World War, the school resumed its activities in November 1944 and established a Conducting Department. The choir became an integral part of the school’s professional music education, providing aspiring choral conductors with valuable opportunities to develop and refine their skills through practical experience.
The choir’s artistic director is Nora Žeigure, who has held this position since 2022. Previous conductors include Jānis Baltiņš, Jānis Lindenbergs, Ārija Mauriņa, Pēteris Rība, and others.
